With the official release date of Final Fantasy 14 set to September 30th, 2010, Square Enix have decided to throw in a little bonus for the early birds by giving the Collector's Edition preorders an eight days head start.
In addition, the preorders will also receive an Onion Helm for Collector's Edition and Garlond Goggles for the Standard Edition.
The Onion Helm quickens recovery following KO, while Garlond Goggles increases the speed of skill progression.
From a speculative standpoint, the Goggles offer a much better long term value in comparison to just faster KO recovery. If there isn't any items that offer a similar effect to the Garlond Goggles, the Collector's Edition isn't looking too hot in terms of just in-game value.
However, the eight days head start advantage can not be over looked. So if you're hardcore enough to put in many hours of play time in the first eight days, then even with the item bonus disadvantage, it will still be more than worth it to preorder the Collector's Edition of Final Fantasy XIV.
