    Starting Equipment

    Over the past few days I've been learning to craft and have been having a decent time at it. I also listened in on some linkshell chat about how having the hat you start off with as a crafter helps a lot and I got to thinking, whose hat? Which gear is best to start with? What are the benefits of starting off as any one job?

    So I painstakingly created all 18 jobs and recorded their stats. I'm pretty confident that the starting equipment won't change much if at all between now and release so I feel good about posting this based off beta data. Note that all races have varying names for their starting equipment but the stats are the same. Here are my findings:

    Hi, and wow...thanks for such a great post. Sorry for the newb question, but I'm confused. Here's a list of stats, but what's the actual starting equipment? Do we all just start out with a different hat? Do we start out with gil too or how do we buy our starting weapons? Also, wouldn't it be possible to start a game as one class, send your equipment to a mule, delete and recreate your character in a different class and get that class's equipment too?

    The starting equipment has no class requirement. You can just enter the game with more beneficial gear, swap a weapon and you will finish. No sense in re-living all those Limsa Lominsa cut-scenes a second time. I have been tired of those since I benchmarked my computers.

    The names of the gear varies from job to job/race to race. Regardless of the job/race combination you are though, the stats are the same meaning that if you play a Miqo'te Archer or a Hyur Archer, you will get the same bonuses. The only gear that seems to be a constant on all jobs for each race is the undies and the undershirt. Also, who else is a little put off with the well-worn pantalettes on the Miqo'te( I think well-worn panties may be a bit of a no-no >.> ).

    Also, no it isn't possible to start the game as one class and tranfser because sadly the gear is untradeable, it says so in the inventory/equip menu. Otherwise that would be freakin awesome o.o

    It seems that they've tweaked some of the starting equipment for OB. For example, all of your Thaumaturge stats are still correct except for MP: (12 -> 24), Craftsmanship: (1 -> 2), and Magic Craftsmanship: (1 -> 2). Also Lightning Cut 1% and Ice Cut 4%.
    I'd wager most of the stats are still correct except for the Land/Hand six. (and HP/MP I guess)
