A note for readers, this is a guide in progress since it is not physically possible to cover all aspects of Guild Marks and Class Quest this early in the game. This is a factual guide and I'll try to provide all the necessary information you might need to get your Guild Marks going. Some information might be incorrect, so please bare with me. With that aside lets jump into the guide. Wee~

I. What are Guild Marks?
Guild marks are a type of currency used by guilds to purchase job specific abilities or traits. Some examples of abilities and traits**; Job Ability "Pierce" cost 6000 Lancer Guild Marks, which is another basic attack that does piercing damage to the target and enemies inbetween, and Job Trait "Fastcast" for Conjurer cost 8000 Conjurer Guild Marks, which reduces casting time by 20%. (as of Oct. 22nd version update)
**This guide will not cover all the cost nor all the abilities you can buy with Guild Marks. You can find more information when browsing for Job Abilities Guides or NPC Shop Guides.
II. Where can I receive Guild Marks?
Guild marks are received from either Regional Guildleves randomized rewards or completion of Class Quest.a) How early can I receive Guild Marks?
The earliest you can receive Guild Marks are from rank 20 Regional and Local Guildleves, which are unlocked to players who have obtained a rank 13 or higher for Regional and rank 15 or higher for Local. These rewards are randomized so it is not always a guarantee that the set of Regional Guildleves provided to you will list Guild Marks as your reward. Additionally the Guild Marks that they do list as a reward on rank 20 Regional Guildleves seems to be randomized between your leveled DoW and DoM jobs, while Local Guildleves hands out DoH Guild Marks. (this needs further investigation)
(caption: Gridania Battlecraft leve for Camp Tranquil suggested rank 20~ Similar to other Regional Guildleves you can trade in leves to increase the Guild Marks reward)
b) What and where are the Regional Guildleves?
(note: Although I know this is a redundant from the FFXIV Guildleves Guide we have here, I'm including this section since that guide is out of date, and also to clear up the terms I am referring to.)
Regional Guildleves are obtained in the starting city-state guildleve counters at the Adventurers' Guild. They include, Battlecraft leves, Fieldcraft leves, Faction leves and Tutorial leves. However, I have only noticed Guild Marks from Battlecraft leves and Faction leves.
The NPCs who issues them are
Gontrant ---- City: Gridania ---- Map Position (x,y): (6,6)
Totonawa --- City: Ul'dah ------ Map Position (x,y): (6,4)
Piralnaut ---- City: Limsa Lominsa - Map Position (x,y) (7,5)i) How often and how many Regional Guildleves can I receive?
Guildleves cycle is 36 hours, at the moment this reset occurs at 8:00 AM (EDT) and 8:00 PM (EDT). You can receive up to 8 new Regional Guildleves in each 36 hour cycle. This does not count the Local Guildleves as part of the other 8 you can receive.Example: A possible combination, you can pick up 4 new Regional Guildleves at Gridania, 2 at Ul'dah, and 2 at Limsa. So a total of 8 new Region Guildleves.ii) I've failed my Regional Guildleve(s), Can I redo it?
Yes, you can re-attempt a failed Regional Guildleve at the start of the next 36 hour Guildleve Cycle. You do not need to return to the guildleve counter of the city you've obtained it from. The Regional Guildleve will be cleared of the failed mark, and you would be able to start right away at its respective camp.
This does not count towards a new set of 8 Regional Guildleves you can obtain from the new guildleve cycle either.
c) What and where are the Class Quest?
Class Quest are quest you obtain from Guilds. Guilds can be found in the starting city-states, and the Class Quest providers are within it's respective guild. Each starting city-state only houses unique guilds not found in other city-states. You can begin your first Class Quest at rank 20 of the job for that particular guild.
There are currently three Class Quest in total for each job at ranks 20, 30, and 36. To start you must have finished at least the Main Scenario Quest given at rank 15. (source: lodestone)Example: Rank 20 Conjurer starts it's first Class Quest, Dendrological Duties, at the Conjurer's Guild located in Gridania.
Guilds in City -- DoW DoM //////////////////////////// DoH ///////////////////////////// DoL
Gridania ------- Archer, Conjurer, Lancer ////////// Carpenter, Leatherworker ////// Botanist
Ul'dah --------- Gladiator, Pugilist, Thaumaturge // Alchemist, Goldsmith, Weaver / Miner
Limsa Lominsa - Marauder /////////////////////////// Armorer, Blacksmith, Culinary // Fisher
III. Where can I spend my Guild Marks?
You can spend you Guild Marks at the Guild for that particular mark. Currently, I have not found any other suppliers which receive Guild Marks as a currency.a) Guild Mark Prerequisite - I have enough Guild Marks to buy 'X' but it won't allow me!
Unfortunately there are hidden prerequisites to purchases a particular skill or trait from a supplier. The first few do not have any prerequisites to purchase, but everything else after which appears in yellow means you can not purchase it at the time being.
To unlock the next set of skill or traits for purchase, you must complete the first Class Quest from that guild. (See II.c 'What and where are the Class Quest?' for more information) It is uncertain for the time being if completing the next series of Class Quest would unlock more abilities for purchase from that Guild or not.
b) Can I trade Guild Marks to other players?
Unlike the currency gil, you can not trade Guild Marks to other players. Guild Marks are bound to your character.
c) Where can I view my current Guild Marks balance?
The only place I know of to view your current Guild Marks standing is at the respective Guilds themselves. You will see the amount of Guild Marks you've obtained when you attempt to purchase from the Guild Mark Shop.
(caption: Conjurers' Guild Mark Shop at Conjurers' Guild, notice things marked in yellow means can not buy at the moment, or you have already purchased. I have already purchased Fastcast and Elemental Shroud, which is why it is yellow)
